For Peak ID:

ANN1 - displays Annapurna I
ANN - displays all peaks with IDs starting with “ANN” (the Annapurnas)

For Peak Name:

Langtang Ri - displays Langtang Ri
Langtang - displays Langtang Lirung, Langtang Ri, and Ghenge Liru (Langtang II)
purna - displays all peaks with “purna” as part of their name (Annapurna I,
        Gangapurna, etc.)

A 4-character peak ID identifies all peaks in the Himalayan Database. Some of the more common peak IDs are:

A 9-character expedition ID identifies all expeditions and is given in the form

pkid-yys-nn

where “pkid” is the peak ID, “yy” is the last two digits of the year, “s” is the season, and “nn” is the expedition number. The seasons are numbered as 1=spring, 2=summer, 3=autumn, and 4=winter. For example,

ANN1-701-01

is the expedition ID for Chris Bonington’s Annapurna South Face expedition in spring 1970 and

EVER-131-78

is the Japanese Everest expedition in spring 2013 where Yuchiro Miura summited at the age of 80 (there were a total of 90 expeditions to Everest that season).

The Display Member command displays the biographical information about a member. For example, to display information about Benoit Chamoux, enter the last name “Chamoux” (or a beginning of the last name) in the dialog box, which displays the member records for all the expeditions that Benoit Chamoux and other climbers whose last name start with “Chamo” participated in.

The Find Peaks command searches for peak records that match one or more values.

In the dialog box (which is patterned after the peak record format), enter the values to search for.

Character, numeric, date, drop-down lists and logical (yes or no) fields may be searched.

With the Find Peaks command, selecting a checkbox will search for logical Yes; leaving a checkbox unselected will search for logical Yes or No.
